Over the ensuing years his passion for glass never waned. He has undergone extensive further training perfecting his skills.  In 1996 he toured France and the UK researching glass, both ancient and modern.

His "Blue Coral Chaos" works have been inspired by the Great Barrier Reef and the challenges of global warming and pollution that confront this important environmental resource.  Sheet glass, glass powder and murrini slices (made in-house) are fused together in the kiln.  After cold working, the piece is returned to the kiln several more times and finally for shaping.

All works are numbered and signed, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and an artist's statement. Each is packaged in a hand-made wooden presentation box with an appropriate stand.

more on Helen Peake...

A glass kiln and a flameworking torch entered Helen's studio over 20 years after she began dyeing silks in 1974.  Helen's studio is in a truly beautiful tropical environment and her work practice continues to include textiles as well as gorgeous glass.  The studio is a place of meticulous planning followed by a great deal of accident and alchemy.  All of her work is located in a process of endless play with ideas of perception, experience and myth of Northern Territory landscape.
